Have you ever seen 50 people attend a Zoom program for 6 hours straight and nobody leaves early! Well, I know of a program where I witnessed that firsthand, and I was not the least bit surprised. The interesting thing is that it wasn’t even a main session. It was a voluntary session after the program had ended!

If anyone is interested in attending a literally life-changing sīrah retreat organized by Lanturna, hit me up. That is where I had the experience I mentioned above. My family attended the last one and my wife said, “I felt like I was actually there,” in reference to the session where El-Hajj Hisham Mahmoud was teaching about the Cave Ḥirāʾ moment. They also have an amazing thing they do at the end called “Vanguard,” but I don’t know if I’m allowed to disclose the details of that publicly. What I can say is that it is deeply emotional and may cause tears to flow. I even got choked up a few times. I’m not exaggerating when I tell you that you may have never attended a sīrah program like it.

Lanturna’s “Years of the Beloved” retreat was a wonderful experience for my family. El-Hajj Hisham brought the sīrah to life and helped us view the life of our dear Prophet ﷺ in an entirely different light. I’ve read multiple sīrah books before, but have never felt this close to the Prophet ﷺ. His warm, practical approach allows us to draw upon the sīrah every moment of our lives. El-Hajj Hisham presented the class with so much love as if he was talking about a very close personal friend mā shāʾ Allāh. I was able to feel the love and pain that our Prophet ﷺ went through. He made me realize how I can draw from our beloved Prophet’s ﷺ personality and attitude in times of trials and tribulations and in times of joy, providing insight into our own life issues and concerns. My three kids enjoyed this class too.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

“Say, ‘If it is that you love Allah, then follow me, that Allah may love you!’” (Āl ʿImrān 3:31). This 6-day program will highlight milestones from the blessed life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to serve as signposts as we tread the paths of our own lives. Lady ʿĀʾishah once observed that she never saw anyone more keen on emulating the Prophet ﷺ than our master ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb, who was known to tread his footsteps even as he accompanied him! But he would not have been drawn to do so were it not for the emotional, heartfelt nexus he had to the Prophet. The faithful would spontaneously confess their love to him as they sought to emulate every aspect of his supernal character, and countless would volunteer sacrificing their most precious attachments before they would posit random questions unocassioned by any need to do so. Our yearning to love the Prophet deeper is not a leap of faith when we know him more intimately. Lanturna’s Summer Program purposes to impart such intimate knowledge as would enliven our hearts to experience love in its greatest potentiality. Come let us tread our own paths together, by sinking our feet into the blessed traces of his, to drink from his gentle hand as we cross into our final destination.

At the dawn of revelation, the Prophet ﷺ was commanded وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثْ “And as for the blessing of thy Lord, proclaim it!” (al-Ḍuḥā 93:11). And toward the eve of his passing, he instructed those present to inform those absent.
